MENTORING 2 MANHOOD

 

Every man, woman and child wants to know they are special and that they are loved for being who they are.  God intended man to be the head of the house, the patriarch, the one who would insure that all members of his house were “blessed”. 

 

Today we live in a world where so many households have been broken and many children are growing up either with an absentee father or no father at all.  People are struggling for survival and there is precious little time to care for our own families let alone someone else’s children.  That being the case, many of us have grown up without ever knowing the reality of the blessing God intended for us to have.

 

In 2011, in preparation for our Man Conference to be held in Wyckoff, New Jersey, it was decided that two of our “grey heads” who had already raised their families would pray over men who had never experienced a blessing from their fathers.  What a shock we all had when a huge portion of the audience began getting in line to “receive their blessing.”  Very soon other men were called on to pray for those who were coming.

 

Men stood and waited.  Young men from about 18 years of age to older men in their seventies.  Men were praying, they were weeping, and some were shaking violently from the emotion that was being released.

 

We are told in Genesis chapter 27, that Esau “cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry…” when he discovered that his brother had stolen his blessing.  Esau had lost the coveted “blessing of the first born.”  He was greatly grieved.  Men don’t want to admit how severely they are impacted when they go through life without being blessed.  Nevertheless, when given the opportunity, no matter their age, there is a flood of emotion that reveals the cry of the heart.  The cry to know they are special and greatly loved.

 

That being said Legacy Minded Men has created a way for dads, granddads, guardians and mentors to convey the blessing in a unique, memorable manner that we believe will change many lives, we call this M2M (Mentoring2Manhood). It could alter a life, maybe your own!
